Well..... I'm in LAX in transit home. Was hoping to get on an earlier connection, but missed it by 2 minutes!!! So I arrive at JFK at 7:14am, still enough time to run home for a shower, and then off to work.
The last couple days in Hawaii were prolly the best. We got our second car, a Mustang Convertible! which of course I stole. Rob and Margaret arrived, which made things even more fun. Made to Irifune (best food ever!!!), hiked up Diamondhead, hit the shrimp truck, and prolly best of all snorkled this morning in the most beautiful bay. Last night was more time on the beach, drinks at the Moana, and then takeout Thai to finish the night. The flight to LAX was awesome, AA First Class is all good, and I had the best view of the islands on the way out. I do already miss the gang, who harassed me horrible to change my flight and stay till at least Sat night....
Anyway, as promised, one picture of me surfing....
So yesteday was so awesome. In fact the last two days. Genko Sushi, Keo's Thai food, and a relaxing day at the beach followed by a nice night's sleep left me ready to surf Monday! So I joined up for lessons, and actually had success! Its pretty fun (and for those who know about my poor sense of balance on land, standing on a board on water is a major accomplishment). However, I did manage to land on some coral and cut the bottom of my foot, and then walking home on it was pretty stupid. Ow Ow Ow. After making lunch for ourselves, and doing some shopping, we headed up to the North Shore and observed these crazy surfers and huge waves! We got these awesome Avocado burgers at a little place Adrian knew, and then headed back for the night, all worn out. Took advantage of our last night in the hotel to hit its 30th floor restaurant/bar for a glass of port and some dessert. Today, I'm taking it easy, Ben, Noriko, and Adrian are going surfing again, and I might read or do some work poolside, but in the afternoon we might go hike Diamondhead (if I can walk!). Rob and Margaret arrive at 4, and we're moving to the Condo on the East Shore!
PS, if you're lucky, perhaps a shot of me surfing will show up, I must preview them first to see how scary they look....
After your typical unhappy V-Day (I've decided that my positive attitude about Valentine's is a waste of time, I'm joining all my single friends in hating it that day), I had an excellent trip to Honolulu. Not only did I sleep on the plane, but I was upgrade (for free!) to first class on AA. For you flyer geeks, that meet real international business class seats on AA 767s! Got an upgrade on the car (still an icky pontiac, but its big, with CD player, etc). I had to turn down the offer for a free upgrade to a Mustang Converible (I was supposed to rent the big car, and I figured that was too small). The hotel is pretty nice, snagged an upgrade to a kitchenette, and a sleeper sofa, but lost the ocean view (I wanted in the nicer tower, and for the other stuff, it was worthwhile). So, I love the weather, its warm and comfortable. We went to the Sands hotel for cocktails on the beach. Then we bought supplies for breakfast today (and I got Mauna Loa cookies). I made my first real breakfast in a while (a year????). Ok, people are almost done showering, so its almost time to hit the best... only 9am here (love that 5 hour time difference). I'm ready to embarass myself again with surfing attempts..
Ok, so I have been pretty remiss in making updates. I will post pix from India shortly. Plus maybe some from my weekend in New Orleans. Right, I'm in Boston, and having such a fun time. Off to the aquarium with Shag, to meet Margaret, Peter, Crysal, and Brad.
